This event welcomes Young Carers up to age 25, those who support them, and professionals who impact their lives. Age 12+ recommended.
National Young Carer Conference 2026
Welcome to the National Young Carer Conference 2026! Join us and President Catherine Connolly, the Ombudsman for Children and UNCRC Committee Vice Chair at the O'Reilly Hall, University College Dublin for a day filled with insightful discussions, interactive conversations with decsion makers, entertainment and fun activities for Young Carers. This in-person event is supported by the Office of the Ombudsman for Children and is designed to bring people from across the country to learn about young carers experiences, raise their voice, hear from research professionals, and connect with peers facing similar challenges.
Young Carers are people under 25 who live with a family member at home, who has a disability, illness, long term injury, mental health challenge including addiction and Trauma. They are often not the primary carer but do offer support in various ways, that impacts their own life experience.
Open to the people involved in young carers lives such as school staff, youthworkers, health and social care providers , and student groups from school sor colleges wanting to learn more about advocacy and social change are welcome - Contact us to organise free coach transport from around Ireland by email ycconf26@gmail.com . Young Carers aged under 12 are welcome to attend with a parent or guardian, under the advice that some of the content of the presentations are of a more mature nature of the young carer experience, such as violence at home, self injurious behaviour, financial challenges, mental health issues and addiction. This event is not suitable for young children.
Please be aware that there will be photography and videography on the day that may be used publicly.
